Remember overclocking some Lite-On models, so they would write faster and support even more/other technologies ? As it seems also Sony is currently rebadging Lite-On drives. This means that Sony just buys the Lite-On drives, put their stickers on it, add manuals and a package and sell it under their Sony brand, as a lot of people just tend to like Sony and are likely to buy a Sony CD-RW drive.

But now we have reports on our forum (cdfreaks.) of people who have flashed their Sony CRX195E1/CRX195A1 back into Lite-On drives and even overclock them. dhc014 has made a website that explains how to do this and even made a utility to make the process very easy:
